Texas 29 - Buchanan Dam to Mason

This section of Texas 29 traverses the western Texas Hill Country between Lake Buchanan Dam and Mason, TX. Wildflowers were in full bloom when I took these photos on April 15, 2001.

(click for medium resolution 140k, high resolution 415k) This view shows heavy wildflower concentrations along the roadway. The blue flowers are bluebonnets, the red flowers are Indian paintbrush.

(click for medium resolution 135k) This is the crossing of the Llano River just south of Texas 29 on FM 2768, about halfway between Llano and Mason.
This region was originally settled by German immigrants in the middle of the 19th century.
(click for medium resolution 132k) This is the crossing of the Inks Lake (Colorado River) just south of Buchanan Dam.
The plaque shows that the bridge was constructed in 1937.
