Dedication of Expansion of the Southwest Freeway (US 59) in Sugar Land, 28 May 2003

Created and last updated 1-June-2003

The severe traffic bottleneck in Sugar Land has been eliminated (for the time being) with the opening of the new lanes from Kirkwood to SH 6. The lanes actually opened in the second half of May 2003 in sections, and the official dedication ceremony was held on May 28.

The ceremony featured U.S. Congressman Tom Delay (R, Sugar Land), House majority leader and one of the most powerful men in America.
