  1. The proposed routes have partly faded away

    The archived note explains that brown ink used for proposed Dallas freeways faded on the wide-area map. Several paths now read as pale or white streaks.

  2. The two city centers are inset

    Blue rectangles mark separate detailed inset areas over central Fort Worth and central Dallas.

  3. The legend records several stages

    Completed freeways, routes under construction, final right-of-way and advanced-planning corridors each receive a different line treatment.

A 1971 archive record on a July 1972 sheet

The archived title and source identify the 1971 interim report. The map image itself is labeled July 1972 and describes the status of recommended freeways for a 1985 system. Both dates are retained here rather than forcing the record into a single date.

Map Note: In the wide area maps, the proposed freeways in Dallas were indicated by brown ink, which had faded in the document. If you look closely, you can see the names of the proposed freeways. The paths are visible by the white streak (where the brown line used to be.) In the Dallas downtown area, the brown ink of the paths of the proposed freeways is still visible.
