needed rain in Austin, more than 2 inches in many places. Great, great news for dessicated Austin.

January 2001 - Substantial Progress on Excavation
Excavation on the west side of IH-35 for the SH71 main lanes, which will be depressed below grade.

June 2000: Work is just getting underway
In August 2000, construction was in its early stages. The existing I-35 overpass
can be seen in the background.
In June 2000, the existing I35 bridge over 71/290.
The existing bridge is a first-generation TxDOT design, dating from the 1950's.
Bring on the wrecking ball to tear it down!
